Online betting diary – July 2013

July 2013

28th July, 2pm

I hope you followed the advice last week, we backed England to win the second test of the Ashes, and they did it in style! Slightly better than even money was a corker of a price, and the result was never in doubt, with England securing a massive victory to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

The third test starts on Thursday this week (1st August 2013), after our success last week, lets have a look at how the odds have changed?

England 1.91
Australia 5.7
Draw 3.3

So England down to odds-on, but I still feel its a generous price, not far below even money.

Whats the bet to be?

England.

Its still that simple. England at Old Trafford might not have quite the same stunning record they enjoy at Lords, but they’ll still be expecting to put Australia to the sword and finish the series at the first opportunity. I think they’ll do it.

If you fancy a side bet, I’d be tempted by a couple of quid on the whitewash, you can still get around 9/2 (5.5) on this. If England push on till the end, there’s a fair chance this will come in as well.

Enjoy the match.

Today’s bet.
England vs Australia. Ashes series, third test. Starts Thursday 1st August, 11am.

England to win. £20 @ 1.91

15th July, 2pm

Congratulations to Andy Murray who has ended a rather lengthy wait for a British man to capture the coveted Wimbledon trophy. A superb straight sets victory over Djokovic was fully deserved. Can Andy now go on to win more majors? He’s certainly well placed to do so, and at the moment Djokovic is his only real barrier to becoming a great in the sport. With Federer past his superb best, and Nadal struggling with injury, the next few years really could be Murray’s time. Lets hope for more of the same.

Today we’re having a look at the 2nd test of the Ashes. The first test came to a dramatic conclusion on Sunday with the Aussie fightback cut short with just a handful of runs still to find. Tense times at Trent Bridge, but ultimately relief for the England faithful despite the best efforts of the Aussie tailenders.

The best prices in the betting for the second test are as follows:

England 2.1
Australia 4.5
Draw 3.5

So where are we going for a bet?

England.

Simple as that! At Lords, England have a superb record in Test cricket, and it’s hard to see an upset here. If anything, the Aussie’s overachieved in the first test, yet still came up short. In this match I’m expecting an England win only, and for it to be much more comfortable than first time out!

The weather looks like it’s going to be perfect again, so not much danger with the draw. Fill your boots on England.

Enjoy the match.

Today’s bet.

England to win. £20 @ 2.1

June was a fairly quiet month for us, in fact we only placed a single bet. But in this game its about quality, not quantity, and with that in mind I’m pleased to report a strike rate of 100% for the month! We had a punt on the Spain v Tahiti correct score market, and the 10-0 result was towards the lower end of the five possible results we covered. In an ideal world Spain would have nicked a few more to make it a bigger win, but we’ll settle for the profit.

Talking of Spain, congratulations to Brazil on their win in the Confederations Cup final last night. Rarely has this superb era of Spanish footballers been so utterly outplayed as they were last night. From the first kick to the last Brazil played a fantastic game of pace and power, pressing all over the park and never giving Spain a moment on the ball. Spain, quite frankly didn’t know what hit them and were well beaten, the 3-0 scoreline a more than fair reflection.

There’s plenty to look forward to in July, we’ll be looking at the various upcoming summer sports. Stay tuned for a bet!
